Egypt opens Africa's largest solar power plant
Egypt today inaugurated Africa's largest solar power plant in Benban, Aswan Governorate, with a production capacity of 1.8 gigawatts.
The plant is part of Egypt's plan to transition to clean energy, with the Egyptian government aiming to generate 42% of its total energy from renewable sources by 2035.
The World Bank praised the project, considering it a model for renewable energy investment in Africa.
